Recycling

Collaborating Our Efforts

Hurricane Hauling & Demolition, Inc. uses the Marin Resource Recovery Center as its primary dump facility. The Center provides the citizens of Marin County and surrounding counties with a clean, enclosed environment for the disposal of nearly 3,000 tons of recyclables, solid waste, and hazardous every month. A smaller percentage of trash is going to the landfill thanks to their customized state-of-the-art screens, conveyors, blowers, magnets, and hand sorting that separate dirt, sand, metal, wood, concrete, paper, and other materials for recovery. The Marin Resource Recovery Center is perhaps the most sophisticated and innovative recycling facility in the country. By collaborating our reduce, reuse, recycle policies with innovative companies like the Marin Resource Recovery Center, we are taking full responsibility for our business’s footprint.

Driving Biodiesel Engines

We want our impact on the job site to be the same on the streets which is why we commit to using biofuel in our fleet of vehicles. Yokayo BioFuels provides us with processed recycled vegetable oil to run our diesel engines. Used oil is retrieved from restaurants throughout the Bay Area and processed with lye and methyl alcohol to reduce viscosity. This process produces glycerin as a byproduct, which again is reused. According to the U.S. EPA’s Biodiesel Emissions Analysis Program, pure biodiesel emits 67% fewer unburned hydrocarbons, 48% less carbon monoxide, and 47% fewer particulates.

Giving Back

Hurricane Hauling & Demolition, Inc. donates time, money, and materials to local 501(c)(3) organizations because giving back to the community is important to us. Some of these organizations include:

Continuing Our Improvements

Since 1989, Hurricane Hauling & Demolition, Inc. has been a leader in sustainable business practices. With a goal to divert waste to the landfill, we aim to recycle 80%-100% of the construction debris – including dirt, rock, and concrete – that we haul away. Our employees are highly trained in identifying re-salvageable materials and separating them on site. We either incorporate these re-purposed materials in other jobs or store and resell them to local homeowners and contractors. These processes not only keep our waste at a minimum but also show the value that “rubbish” can still serve a purpose. As a certified Bay Area Green Business, our office supplies and daily operations are efficient and environmentally-friendly according to the requirements of the California Green Business Program. We are committed to continually improving our operations and services to enhance our community and the environment. Check out all of our Awards & Certifications.

  • I want to thank you so much for the fabulous job you did removing the old lathe and plaster from the bedroom in my house. I have no clue how you managed to get it all out that window and into your truck without leaving a single trace either in the house or the yard. I cannot tell you know impressed I was, as was everyone else who has looked the room over since. The room itself was left perfectly clean, without a single nail left needing to be pulled. I so appreciate the excellent, professional service.–Lisa Levi, Homeowner
